Hello! My wife and I are traveling to Iceland next month for the first time and I was hoping to get suggestions from the group. Here is our 12 day itinerary:

Day One: Arrive in Iceland late Friday night. Stay in a hotel in Reykjavic and experience the Reykjavic nightlife.

Day Two: Golden Circle day Tour (Geysir, Strokkur, Gullfoss, and Žingvellir), any left over time spent touring Rejkjavic.

Day Three: Possible white water rafting trip, or boat trip to the Westmen islands, or possibly a horse riding tour. Night in Reykjavik or maybe head on to Snaefellnes for the night.

Day Four: Pick up rental car. Leave Reykjavik and pass through Borgarnes on the way to the Snaefellnes Peninsula. Night in Snaefellnes.

Day Five: Morning in Snaefellnes Peninsula, and on to the West Fjords. Hotel in Isafjordur.

Day Six: Day in West Fjords visiting Breidavik Beaches and Latrabjarg (western most point of Europe). Hotel in Isafjordur.

Day Seven: Leave early to Akureyri stopping in Bru, Saudarkokur, Skagufjordour, and Siglufjordur on the way. Stay the night in Akureyri or near by.

Day Eight: Whale watching from Husavik in the morning, and touring Akureyri afternoon/night. Night in Akureyri.

Day Nine: Dettifoss, Myvatn, and possibly seeing some of the interior. Night in Akureyri.

Day Ten: Return rental car. Plane/boat ride to Grimsey. More exploring of Akureyri. Hotel in AAkureyri.

Day Eleven: Early flight from Akureyri to Reykjavik. All day tour of the Jokulsarlon glacial lakes. Night in Reykjavik.

Day Twelve: Relax on the last day at the Blue Lagoon. Afternoon flight back.

Let me know if you have any suggestions based on the itinerary above. Thanks!

You know what. That sounds ideal to me. 12 days in Iceland is probably a very reasonable amount of time to spend on the island.

I know people who drove around it and I'm sure they spent less than 12 days doing it, so your schedule sounds very doable.
