I totally agree!!! One of the finest spots in the North island to visit. My wife is from Taranaki and we spend a lot of time in the region.
The reason I do not usually mention it in such short stays as 10 days is it is a bit out of the way and one must sacrifice a lot of time to get there and back..............

May I say now for an alternative to what I posted everyone take a look at the New Plymouth area and adjust your trip accordingly..............Mt Egmont alone is worth the trip and as is mentioned if a surfer it is a must................

Yer I agree 10 days in the north lsland is tight. My favourite view in NZ is one i get to embrace very often. This morning sitting on my board waiting for a set to come in. While looking over my left shoulder to see MT Taranaki in all its glory covered in snow. But the logistics of getting to new plymouth is "out of the way" thats why allot of people miss out.
