QUOTE(aopaq @ Jun 28 2009, 01:48 AM) I have been living here for about 10 months now and haven't really missed any food bad enough to go seriously searching for it. However, I will be returning to the West this summer and will probably eat (at least once) ridiculous things such as KD (Kraft Dinner) and Peppermint Aero chocolate bars.
I think anything I have missed has been made up for (multiple times over in many cases) by the wonderful fruit and vegetables I have been eating, not to mention tonnes of seafood!
That's great . Very interesting to me, I'm still going to China in November; at this rate everything is working out well. I'm sure there will be many thing I'll miss once I return home, but I'll be heading back to china late next year to study. I'd love to live in China, I envy you The food seems great compared to here! (in my tastes any-way)

I've been in Shanghai almost a year. I find I can get any food items I want here, or at least all of the ingredients to make things myself.
I miss the things that nobody can import, like blue skies and fresh air. But other than that, it's great!

QUOTE(scottshangguan @ Sep 17 2009, 03:14 AM) I miss good wine, cheeses and bread. They can be found in Shanghai, but I live on the other side of the country. When I do get to Shanghai I always pig out on cheese, wine and bread.
I know what you mean - I was the same way for my first couple of years in Guangdong, but now in Qingdao I can't move for new wine shops, and French, German or Italian bakeries. I know it's a big market, but they've exploded. Cheese is still an expensive luxury tho! Personally, I know I'm home because I miss very little. The only thing I have yearnings for is the camaraderie of sports clubs with clubhouses. The whole team ethic for socialising doesn't seem to fly here...yet.

QUOTE(skylab @ Oct 18 2009, 11:16 AM) Hm can't say I missed much while i was there. Perhaps youtube? heh
Youtube! Haha, I wander why they can't see it huh? I was on Skype to my friend in China, and I started laughing at a video on youtube, she wanted to see what it was i was laughing at but couldn't show her. I guess for security reasons? I think I'll miss youtube also (joke, how can I in such a beautiful country! haha)
