Hate to be a wet rag. but I feel this river could be any tropical river anywhere in the world. Unless you have actually seen the photo before, how would you ever know where it is?

My guess - Rio Usumacinta, Guatemala and Mexico. There!

Surely there must be some unique recognizable feature in order to pinpoint the place?

Wet rags are certainly allowed and I agree that almost any tropical river is possible! However, with Travel Hangman, one usually has no idea of any of the words until they start guessing possible letters. In a similar fashion, without any recognizable feature, one must start by guessing possible continents and then countries. The poster is free to give hints along the way. Ultimately, one of the main objectives of the game is to provide players with a bit of an geography lesson using photos.

We definitely have some good guesses now...hopefully Sianeth will be along shortly to help us pinpoint the location a bit better!

But surely if it is a photo of an unrecognizable tropical river anywhere in the world, you can change the answer at will and no one would be any the wiser.

How about a tributary of the Amazon, say the Madre de Dios in Peru, The Napo in Ecuador, The Xingu in Brazil or the Madeira in Bolivia.

That is true if someone really was only focussed on "winning" but having played this game before with a number of different folk, I have never seen that happen. Sort of takes any from the spirit of such games. I guess, just have to see if there is interest here or not and how it evolves.

Now if that sianeth would hurry up and get things rolling again..... ranting2.gif (hahahah....I'm not really serious! wink.gif )

How about this one? Just guess the country. This might be a bit easier than the previous ones.

I wasn't wanting to mention it, since people were still guessing, but if you post a picture try and make sure that you dont have the location name in the file. Sianeth's picture has it in the link. Someone like me could totally open it up and see where it is...

There is snow on the mountains, so if it's not in America, it must be in the northern hemisphere. The mountains are quite desert-like, so it's not Europe. I would hazard a guess at Iceland.

Congrats on your winning pick but you're discounting an entire hemisphere because of snow on mountains? Poor Mt Buller, Antarctic Penninsula and even Kilaminjaro is just within the southern hemisphere (but that's a pretty obvious photo, haha)

I look forward to the next one to guess... I need to check my photo for when I can put it up - good advice jeremystravels.

Well, Kilimanjaro and Mt. Buller aren't on the coast, and I would imagine that there would be more snow on the mountains in the Antarctic Peninsula.

Thanks for that one pietari! Just curious, where abouts in Iceland was the photo taken? Do the mountains have a name?

Are you going to post one next mmbcross?

I don't know the names of the mountains, but the picture is taken in the northern part of Iceland, just before entering the fjord of Akureyri. Early in the morning. It was breathtaking!
