It's getting hotter...

What do you think about air conditioning? Do you use it?

No, I don't use it - I don't have it at home. If I go to a hotel with it in I don't use it either cause I can't sleep with it on and am not there during the day.

Got aircon in our car too, but don't use it in the car either - I'd rather have the windows open.

I'm with Brian! Bring it on...in Arizona, you can die if you don't have AC...it's like living in Alaska and not having a heater.

Living in South Florida is is pretty much a necessity. Nevertheless I rarely use it in my car, which in turn makes me a rarity. I notice the fashion today seems to be to install sealed windows in your house and use A/C all year. How terrible to never have fresh air inside your home. We generally turn ours off from around November to April.

It is told that at speeds of over 55 MPH, the drag on your car caused by open windows equals the cost of running A/C with closed windows. Does anyone know if this is true?

I'm pretty sure travelling at any speed all sweaty rarely leads to fuel consumption analysis.
But I could be wrong.

I love AC. So much!

No, I definitely have no need for air con in the UK... I always find it absolutely freezing when they use it on public transport. However I agree that its a god send in places like SE Asia and Africa sometimes!

My dad tells me this is true, yes.

I never use air conditioning in my house, I live half underground so it is cool all summer as long as you don't open the windows in the daytime. I love it. I also don't have carpets, so I just lay down on the hardwood floor if it gets too hot.

I am always freezing at work and on the bus in the summer, it's so bizarro, I hate that.

It's necessary here too and I have every need, but it's not healthy. Neither is it natural. Get rid of it. You WILL live..

You don't think it's healthy?
Do people get sick from too much air conditioning do you think?

I live and breath air conditioning. I have ice in my veins and must have working air. My birthday present last week was my maintenance person fixing my air conditioning in my apartment. It was 80 degrees inside, I laid on the bed sweating while reading "Angels and Demons", and the guy brought my A/C back to life. I am way to fat to just open a window. espcially in the summer in NC.

I'm a fan of fans over aircon. I do appreciate an occassional break from super hot weather, like going to the movies on a 40C day with a choc top is always great but, especially if you're in a new place, I find you aclimatise much quicker if you turn off the aircon as soon as you've arrived. It also means you don't feel the heat twice as much when you venture outside.
