Do I understand correctly that only one pin may be dropped on a a map per blog entry? For example: If, in one day, I traveled from Lexington Kentucky to Louisville Kentucky then on to Cinncinati, and I wanted that route to show up on an entry about my day of travel, then I'd actually have to create three entries: one for Lex, one for LV, and one for Cinnci? What I really want to do is make one entry for my day of travel and have a map on that entry that shows the route I took for that one entry, even if it involves multiple destinations. Doable? Thanks in advance for tutoring me! flowers.png

Hey Stella, that is correct.

HOWEVER, you can create one long entry for one of the map pins and then leave the other two blank.

Does that help?

Well, it's not the answer I was hoping for, but it does answer my question...and in a very timely manner, I might add. Thanks!!

Hmm... Well Eric has the last say on any changes to the system, so let's see what he has to say about it.

I do agree that multiple map pins per entry would be a good feature to have. That way you can do a circuit of a few cities in one day and show it without having to have entryless pins. But right now the only way to do it would be have 1 main entry on one city and 2 entryless pins on the others.

Funny though, I live in Dayton... really close to Cincy flowers.png

But there is nothing wrong with having multiple entries all on the same day is there? So,one for stop 1, and another for stop 3, etc.....

Just out of interest, was there any further thoughts on this? It would be an excellent feature. I very often go to several places in one day, but there isn't always enough to say about each place to make it worth a separate entry - it would be good to be able to pin where you went though without having to make blank entries or entries with just a few lines.

I see what you're getting at, but the only disadvantage with the way it currently works is that you'll have a few more lines on in your Lists of Entries... right?

Is there any other reason you can think of?

Since you can create as many pins as you want on any given day, I get the feeling that it will be much simpler to keep it to one city per entry.

Yes, you are right, it is purely cosmetic – it’s just not aesthetically great to have empty entries. I don’t create them because I don’t like leaving them blank (other than a map pin), so I choose not to, which means I have chunks of my trip missing, since I often go to several places in one day. For example, I have just been away on a four day trip and to map the places I stopped at I would have to create at least 14 entries.

It’s not a big issue, just a number of people have asked about it over time, so I wondered if it was on the agenda. Maybe another time …..

Travelmonster, are you talking about the outside view of your blog or the inside?

We're about to redesign the outside view which will handle map pins much better than the current version.

Read more about it here!

Hi

I'd really like to see the possibility to have many pins over the course of a day with the option to have only one entry in the table of contents.

I know I am a poor example as my entries to date are inadequate, but I look thro' others blogs and find myself clicking on pin only entries.

I noticed the new look at the weekend and have already commented that it looks excellent.

I think this is whole site is a fantastic resource and just keeps getting better.

If I could ask for one other addition to the tools it would be the ability to add restaurants + the like eating places to a days blog in the same way as hotels.

Yes, the outside view is what I was thinking about - what people see when they read my blog. I'd like to be able to have one entry with many map pins, but I'm not worried how that looks or happens from inside (the part I can see).

By the way, the new look example is looking good!

Ok! Now i get it!

This will be completely solved when we push up the new redesign!

Only entries with stories or pictures attached to them will show up in your table of contents.

Map pin only entries will ONLY appear on the map, so you can create as many map pins as you want for any given day and it won't confuse your readers.

Thanks for the clarification!
