I posted a similar message in another group I recently joined, but that board doesn't seem to be as active as this one. So...
I'm new to this group and would like to make friends around the world. So tell me:
What your name is (I'm John)
Where you're at and your Ethnicity (the U.S. -- specifically, Washington State on the West coast -- and white/caucasian)
Your age and gender (41/M)
Where you've travelled to in the past (England and Western Canada; parts of the Western United States -- WA State, Oregon, California, Idaho and Nevada)
Where you'd like to travel to in the future (France, Spain, Italy, Amsterdam, Germany and Japan)
When you go on vacation/holiday, what kind of experiences are you looking to have? (I'm looking for mystery and adventure, but really haven't been able to find the exact type of event or intrigue I'm looking for; I find typical things like laying on the beach for long periods a rather dull way to spend time. And there are only so many museums and such that you can go to. There's got to be some kind of alternative... It'd be cool to find others who were looking for something different as well. Drop me a line if you want to chat.)
John

Hi John, Welcome to the forums I'm Kathryn, I'm from nearish Glasgow in Scotland, but I live in Dublin in Ireland and love both countries I have also lived in England, and go there regularly as my boyfriend is there and my work is also linked there. I had a year out travelling in 2007/08 and covered Peru; Chile; Argentina; Uruguay; Brazil; Australia; Singapore; Malaysia; Thailand; Laos and Cambodia. Before that I loved to travel, but it was all holidays /weekend breaks - with the cheap airlines that operate in Europe, I have been to quite a lot of cities, and don't plan to stop I am going back to Thailand next week for a holiday and CAN'T WAIT!! In the future I'd love to get back to South America, but I also really want to go to Reykjavik, Iceland - but every time I look, the flights are expensive compared to other places I can go in Europe One day!! There's also some basically achievable places I'd like to get to (and will) like Donegal in Ireland, as that's where my nanny was from - I've no excuse now I'm living in her country! When I go anywhere I love randomness! Two weekends ago in The Netherlands, I got weighed on a scale that tells you if you're a witch or not, and also saw some some guys busking on top of a cadillac! Love it! In saying that though - when I go to Thailand next week, I am looking for some chillaxing on the beach, as I have been insanely busy at work, and I can't wait to chillax I'm sure I'll still encounter some randomness, as once I'm recharged, I'll be out and about for sure Well...that's me! PS. In your list - you mention travel to specific countries, with only 'Amsterdam' isolated - I'd really recommend other places in the Netherlands - I was there 2 weeks ago and had a great time! I didn't go to Amsterdam this time, and agree it's a must-see city, but there is also a lot more to offer in The Netherlands, and it's easy to get around by train Nowhere is more than 3 hours away by train, from Amsterdam

Hi Kathryn, That was really the only place I could think of in the Netherlands. Flanders? Is that in the Netherlands? (Makes me think of Homer Simpson's neighbor, though). Or maybe Belgium? My geography is really spotty. Another good reason to travel, I guess! Where would you recommend going in the Netherlands? You have to answer, what was the result? Were you a witch or not??? About Iceland: Kathryn, it's tops on my list too! Maybe in 2011 we can go together? Haha! Welcome to the forums John. Here's my answers to some of your questions: What your name is (I'm Louise) Where you're at and your Ethnicity (Canadian, I live in Ottawa, the capital) Your age and gender (27/F) Where you've travelled to in the past (Every province in Canada, the eastern half of the US, Mexico, Bahamas, St. Martin, Anguilla, Saba, Central Europe: England, Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Italy, Belgium, France, Thailand) Where you'd like to travel to in the future (western half of the US, Iceland, Greenland more Mexico and South America) When you go on vacation/holiday, what kind of experiences are you looking to have? Good times with other TP bloggers and Couchsurfers.

Hi John, Welcome to the group. Here are my answers:
My name is Judy. I'm Hispanic...Dominican born in New York, though I currently live in Phoenix and love it here.
I've traveled to the Caribbean (Dominican Pepublic (of course), St. Thomas, Bahamas), Europe (Spain, France, Russia, Hungary, Austria, Czech Republic, England), Latin America (Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Mexico, Uruguay, Guatemala, and Costa Rica)...I've also been to Canada quite a few times.
Places I want to go: Peru, Ecuador, Brazil, Panama, Italy, Egypt, China, Japan, Portugal, Cuba, Iceland (I had a layover at the airport - but that doesn't count!)...and so many more places, too many to list off the top of my head :-)
When I go on vacation, I enjoy going to landmarks...either places of historical importance like La Sagrada Familia in Barcelona or places with enormous amounts of scenic beauty, like Lake Atitlan in Guatemala...

Sounds like a plan. But in the meantime, I won't stop seeking mystery and adventure closer to home. Or, if anyone is travelling in this direction, I might try to arrange some mystery and adventure for them. Any takers? QUOTE(starlagurl @ Jun 15 2009, 03:16 PM) You funny girl. We are hijacking this thread again. So John, are you coming to Iceland with us in 2011 for some mystery and adventure?
