Next fall I will be in Germany during the last weekend of Oktoberfest. Some friends and I were considering going to Munich for Saturday and Sunday, and I'd like some feedback on our proposed itinerary and plans.

On Friday we'd be going to the Floriade, then taking a train to Munich Friday evening and leaving sometime on Sunday. The only place we can find to stay that isn't 200 euro per night is a place called The Tent, essentially a massive tent with floor space and blankets.

We were thinking of going to Oktoberfest one day and then Neuschwanstein Castle the other. Has anyone been to Oktoberfest or Neuschwanstein Castle, or stayed at The Tent? Is it possible to do Oktoberfest and Neuschwanstein Castle in a weekend (we're going more for the experience than the beer)? Is Neuschwanstein Castle easily accessible (ie. public transportation) and roughly how much time does it take to get there, tour the castle, and return to Munich?

If anyone could answer any of these questions, it would be greatly appreciated!
