Hey guys,

I am volunteering in Mombasa till the end of July. My flight home doesn't leave till the 17 of August out of Nairobi. During that time between the end of my volunteering and when I leave, I would like to go to Dar Es Salaam, Ngorongoro Crater, Zanzibar and possibly even to Kampala for a couple of days.

I am looking for someone, or multiple people who are interested in traveling with me for all or any part of this trip.

I am a 21 year old American male, who has been living in Germany the last 6 months.
I have traveled in Northern Africa before, but nothing Sub-Saharan.

Please feel free to contact me if you would like to join, or even if you have traveled in that part of the world before and have advice. Also if anyone has any advice on getting from TZ to UG via Lake Victoria (Ferry?), that would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Harley

Hm... tough question...

So, I looked through the blogs using these search terms:
http://www.travelpod.com/s/tanzania+uganda+ferry

I took a look at some of the top results, but I don't see anything that goes from Tanzania to Uganda, but I found this blog about a ferry from Mwanza to Bukoba.

http://www.travelpod.com/travel-blog-entri...66000/tpod.html

Hope that helps. Go through some of the other search results and see what you find.

Hi Harley,

Getting the ferry from Tanzania to Uganda is risky. The boats leave "every other day" and half the time they break down and you can be stuck there for a week.

If you want a little more detailed information and advise email me on amandakirk@hotmail.com.

From the sounds of it, I would be better off getting to Uganda via Kenya.

The bus service from Nairobi to Kampala seems to be less hassle than dealing with a ferry. Not that getting stuck in the middle of Lake Victoria for a week wouldn't be an adventure = )

I'd also prefer using a bus over a ferry. Furthermore there are quite a good number of bus companies offering daily safaris betwen Nairobi and Kampala.

Hey Harley,
i am volunteering in Dar Es Salaam from 1.07. to 14.08. this year! and i am searching for a travel buddy as well...wuhu! lucky day^^ i would be really happy if we can manage to travel through Dar Es Salaams city and surrounding together.honestly at the moment im also a bit scared to do it on my own ...alone...cause my family and friends have successfully threaten me with the fact that " a young girl from europe " is not really safe in the big, bad, fameless africa -.-
Well, and now im searching for someone who protects me...hm, im joking. but in fact i think travelling together is much safer and makes much more fun smile.gif
so i hope you have still not planned special trips which i cannot enter anymore, because... i dont know...youre all the time in uganda or something.

oh, i have completly forgotten to introduce myself....im Larissa, 19 years old and come from Germany . (wow, that introduction sounds like a repetition of the stuff from the fifth grade )

it would be great if we can do some trips together ( propably ill only be able to travel at the weekends or at the end of my voluntary service ).

Larissa
