The Guardian published an article about cheap accommodation on the French Riviera, a place where millionaires tend to romp about!

C'est chic, c'est cheap: the French Riviera for paupers

I know many of you prefer hostel but this might give an idea or two to anyone looking for a cheap(er) hotel along the Riviera.

Even cheaper are some of the hostels available, particularly in Nice. For some, that would be much more like it smile.gif

I havvvvvvvvvvve I went to Nice, the sound of the ocean hitting the pebbles on the beach is one of my most beautiful experiences ever.

The article cites Juan les Pins which is very close to Antibes but actually, there are a good chunk of inexpensive hotels in the proper city of Antibes. Antibes is well connected on the train line so its an excellent location to be based in because its about 20 mins from Cannes, 30 min from Nice so obviously its close to Monaco as well. Theres a little beach and good, lively nightlife as well.

WE got as far as Sanary sur Mer one year with our tourer (towed RV for our American friends) we then used that for a base to visit Cannes, St Trop etc still not usre how you could live there for cheap

We spent around 30-40€ a day on food and drink
whereas when we go to Charente we spend less than €20 a day

and in Spain we can live quite well on €15
Our campsite fees are invariably around 15-20 €a day
We never use hotels in France and Spain as we can drive to wherever we want with our own house on our backs

I totaly love Nice ... only problem the rocks on the beach sad.gif But peoples, weather and atmosphere is unic. You have to go here wink.gif
