As far as I can tell PNG is part of the continent of Oceania, though it's not included here in the Aus thread. Someone correct me if I'm wrong...?

Anyway, Papua New Guinea is a place that's always intrigued me and the best things to do are all outside!

Snorkeling and swimming in the coral reefs

Diving in rabaul, Madang and POrt Moresby is suppoed to be fantastic! Reefs and wrecks.

Chambri region river or jungle tour.

Game fishing in Madang, Lae and Port Moresby.

Bush walks and rugged interior hikes

Whitewater rafting on the Watut River

So, here's a question: Have many Australians traveled north to Papua New Guinea or is it a largely ignored destination?

Maybe it would go under Micronesia? Or is that something different?

I've never been there, I am very ignorant of this part of the world.

Australians visit Papua frequently mostly due to business and alot of aussie expat's can be found in Papua.
my favourite book "Four Corners" by Kira Salak is about her travels deep into the heart of Papua New Guinea and i have always wanted to visit because of it

Papua New Guinea sits above Australia and i think (i could be wrong) it was considered a part of Australia a long long long time ago. at least thats what i think i read somewhere...
