NG published an article about a tsunami that could hit the Caribbean -particularly Guadeloupe-at virtually any time, based on scientific research.

The tsunami is expected to be generated when a major landslide, on the island of Dominica—about 30 miles (50 kilometers away)—plunges up to a million tons of rock into the sea (Dominica and Guadeloupe map).

"It is not a case of if the landslide and tsunami will happen, but when," said Richard Teeuw, from the University of Portsmouth, U.K., who led the team of geologists that made the discovery.

"Most likely it will be triggered by a major earthquake," Teeuw added. "It could happen in a hundred years, or it could happen next week."

As many as 30,000 people could be at risk, the researchers say.

Would this deter tourism?

No...I also know that statistically, a large meteor will hit Earth at some point. But that doesn't keep me hiding in a fallout shelter. And I know that with all the traveling I do, there is a chance that my plane might someday crash, but that won't keep me out of the air.

Currently traveling the world on the company's dime...it's the cheapest way to go!!!

Quote from my friend Chuck, who spent 5 months riding his bicycle all the way around the USA - "Nobody says you have to order an entree in the restaurant of life, you'll only be here once! Order the sampler, try as many as you can before you're full; odds are one (of) the items on this menu does more for you than you ever thought. And if I'm wrong, tell the waiter that his menu sucks, throw the cook aside and invent your own masterpiece. Just pour 'em all in, all your favorite ingredients. With enough imagination, any combination will work -- there are no recipes for the paths still awaiting discovery."

I'm with you there. Can't live in fear or we'd never go anywhere!

Yeah, it seems like a remote possibility... I would imagine that it wouldn't affect anything at all.

I agree with big_red_truck.

It is a worry but a life lived in fear is a life half lived so make the most of it.
