The following was my spring break trip to Yemen.
It only lasted 6 days. It was kind of short, but I had to get back to school.
I tried to make the most of my time in Yemen so I visited the following locations:

Day 1: I arrived on Emirates air lines from Dubai at 9 am. After lunch I took a taxi and checked out Sanaa city
Day 2: Traveled 2 hours from Sanaa towards the mountains of Shibam Kawkaban and Thila

Day 3: Traveled to the Imam's castle (previous king of Yemen) and explored that valley.

Day 4: Traveled to Hdaydah coast by the red sea and spent the night. Amazing road to Hudaydah. Note to self: next time I would have to stop at Mankhah and climb Haraz mountains

Day 5: 6am traveled to Taiz and entered the Gahirah Castle overlooking the city. Next time should also climb Sabir Mountain and spend the night. After lunch went to Ibb city and photgraphed it from Jabal Rubee (the Lord's mountain). The road back from Ibb to Sanaa was green and beautiful mountains with res stops and another beautiful castle (Samara).

Some suggestions to better enjoy the trip. Read a little about the history of these places before you visit them. Second, get a good guide; someone with a bachelor's in history would be preferred. Get a second battery for your camcorder. Share your videos and experiences so we can enjoy them with you smile.gif

Yeah, I definitely recommend learning everything you can (especially history) about the place you are going BEFORE you go. You'll be too tired to read it all when you're actually there, guidebooks are OK, but if you can manage to read a solid book or two before you go, your experience will be much richer.
