If anybody is headed to Poland, don't leave without trying zapiekanka.

It's like a Polish pizza on a baguette. I've never had one but it looks delicious! Anybody ever had one?

hehehe, that's truth - polish zapiekanka's are delicious:) If you'll be in Cracow I recommend you to try the best zapiekanka in the world - it's served on Kazimierz district. There are few little ...let's call it shops with long queues all the time. Especially in the evening and weekend you have to stay in this queue, but it's surely worth it!:) You can get zapiekanka with mushroom, cheese, veg one, with polish sausage, with salami, tuna or fete...whatever you like, it's marvellous!:)

Allrounder, you got that right! I have tried Zapiekanka's in every Polish city I have been too and many in Cracow but yes the best ones are in the New square of Kazimierz district yumm

Agreed. Best zapiekanka's in the world are from the hole in the wall in the little rotunda in Nowy Plac, Kazimierz, Krakow!

Ohhh i love it Im form Poland and all I can tell you is I invite you to Poland to Stegna village at Baltic Sea to try ZAPIEKANKA Here in Stegna we got the best zapiekankas of the world

Oh my god, topic about cracowian zapiekankas
I love them, they are the most tasty fast food i have ever eaten.
Every polish city should have such delicacy

Good zapiekankas are on the corner of Bernardynska and Stradomska. You can eat delicious zapiekanka and knysza (dainty from Nowa Huta) in few places in Cracov`s quarter Nowa Huta. They are cheaper than the same food from center areas.

What is it? i've never heard about it.
And... is knysza only in Nowa Huta?

Knysza is something like mega big hamburger, like bread with two beef cutlets and some vegetables. You can buy small knysza and big knysza:). Unfortunaly I dont have any photo of it.

These knysza's don't look nice.
They look like being very fatty.

For me, pics which you found shows kebab, not knysza. Knysza is much bigger:)But sometimes they sell normal kebab, knysza is only the name. Remember, real knysza only in Nowa Huta (os. Zloty Wiek for example)

I guess that's the same (knysza = kebab) only teh names are different but food inside bread the same.

Nowa Huta district is famous from crazy trips ;P like with Crazy Guides (http://www.crazyguides.com/) but serious from be part of Cracow being built in Comunism time.

And the best polish zapiekanki is in Kazimierz District !!! Especially on Plac Nowy in "Endzior" or "Królewskie" window

I've forgotten about sausage from blue "Nyska":) and of course our krakovian pretzels
