In a city like that it is hard to advise unless I know what your kind of fun is.

For culture then the Van Gogh is a must. I also really enjoyed the Rijksmuseum.
You should also see the Anne Frank House and the Pancake House down the street and on the river is a given.

Now venture away from there and you should do a tour of the Heineken brewery. And then spend a ton of time playing in the Red Light District. I enjoyed all of the coffee houses and trying all of their goodies. It is fun to go window shopping too. The 2nd time I went I stayed at a hostal (Flying Pig??) and they had ana mazing front social room. I remember hanging out there for over 24 hours and just meeting so many people. Someone pulls out a baggy of what they bought and everyone shared and then later we try someone elses. It was fun and a blast meeting up with so many new people.

On another trip I took a side trip to view the country side and the windmills.

Have you taken your trip yet? Have you gotten the advice you need? Your post was very vague, and even though Amsterdam is small there is a lot to do for a wide variety of tastes.

I've been a few times so could probably answer some of your many questions if I knew what your questions are.
