The "bikini blogger" made me think about photos we take during our travels and especially those of local people.

Do you have a favorite "people shot" of a person/people you saw during your travels? Is there a story you can share about it?

I look forward to seeing some interesting pics!

I caught site of this sculpture on the waterfront of Vancouver, BC, between downtown & Stanley Park. It's titled "Tool for Rooting Out Sin."

This isn't the photo, as it was taken with a 35mm camera in 1998, but this mime looks somewhat similar.

That is a great shot...I love the colours and the expression on the mime's face!

I'm not sure where the "people" connection is here...... unsure.gif

This is not a photo, but a video I took (sorry it's sideways) of this crazy man in Killaloe, Ontario aka "the place where hippies from Toronto go to die" (not my slogan, haha!)

I just thought he was soooo awesome. He sang this song about Killaloe to me and then he just left the party.

Yes, he certainly is quite a character! A still photo would be awesome (assuming it is not sideways!). smile.gif

I love taking photos of people to capture the atmosphere and in most places I do actually ask before taking the photo as some locals can get annoyed.

This photo however was taken in Havana, Cuba and only because we were having a game on how many 'Lonely Planet' photos we could get. I am sure if you visit Cuba you will get the same photo - but beware she is scary if you don't give her enough money. We were seen sprinting down the road chased by a mad women just after this pic.

I agree about normally asking. That is such a great picture but I can't imagine the "mad lady" could run that fast in her pink dress and after smoking huge stogies like that!

I love the character written in the faces of elderly people as well.

To provide some female to male balance, the following photo of a Chinese elder outside a Fujian Toulo building is one of my favorites.

Rainroo, that is a beautiful photo. I love her expression.

thanks i gave her a few coins and she grabbed my hand and was saying "shukrun, merci, shukrun" over and over...(shukrun is arabic for thank you), she wouldn't let go of my hand and she had tears in her eyes...which brought tears to mine...it was a touching moment.

NO BECAUSE I WAS SO MOVED I WOULD HAVE STARTED SOBBING! cry.png

There was a little boy near her in the lane way and he thanked me too, apparently she was very poor and her husband had passed away and that I had helped her out....

This is one of my favorite. We were in Toledo, Spain and we saw these Nuns caring for a homeless man. Quite a sight...

Honestly, we felt bad about taking a picture, and I would never do it again, but you can't deny its a moving shot...

Great shots! the expressions on the kids faces are so varied and interesting! What kind of "hoop" is the boy rolling?

I'll be honest. people male for the most fascinating shots most of the time. While I still have trouble sometimes approaching people for shots, or interrupting what I think is a private moment, they are often my favourite ones in retrospect. I couldn't come up with just one, so with apologies, I'm posting a few.
