We recently came across Tampat Do Aman Eco Resort whilst backpacking and struggling to budget in Sabah and we want to spread the word.

Tampat Do Aman eco resort has a jungle camp officially opening next week, you can stay in a traditional rungus longhouse or private tents/chalets for between RM35-70.
The camp is located in the heart of the jungle, jungle trekking and survival courses are also possible, half or full days.

Tampat Do Aman also has a restaurant located nearby on the beach, Tip Top, the restaurant is 2km west from the tip of Borneo, the beach is clean, quiet and completely untouched, we lost days here, they have an activities centre next door where you can hire snorkel gear and bicycles, we loved this place as we didn't have to do a full package tour to see the beaches and jungle, hire a bike and see the areas yourself and just pay for trekking/activities etc. as and when you want.

The owner Howard is a great source of information and very welcoming, you can reach the resort by shared taxi from KK or pick up can be arranged form Kudat, the roads are sealed in this area too, so it's an easy journey.

See website below for details:

Highly recommend a few days minimum exploring the tip.

Yeah. I'm writing from the restaurant now. It's a nice place and Howard is such a great guy, always willing to help.
As an example, I desperately want to watch the Superbowl which is coming up. Howard said I can come to his house, for 7am start no less, and watch it.
Highly suggest coming here if you're in KK, just 3 hours away.
