Im trying to figure out, how to find travel blogs. Mainly for surfing trips. Is their a way of searching travel blogs for surfing trips in Costa Rica, Rio de janiro, florinopolis and any other random spots in central/south america? im not sure where to start.

look forward to a reply.

When you are in the forums, there is a Search box across from the TravelPod logo at the top of the page.

Also on the TP homepage, there is a Search box on the right-hand side just above "Quick Links".

From either of those places, you should be able to find any travel blog entries or photos dealing with "surfing and Central/South America."

i have spent all day looking through surfing blogs for costa rica. I have come to the conclusion that surfers dont enjoy telling their stories through forums to random strangers, and they spend most of their time enjoying themselves while on holiday instead of taking photos...

LOL! Maybe so!!

I can't surf myself but I lived in Rio for 5 months and there are loads of surf beaches. There's even a 'surf bus' to take you.

When are you going? I know a guy called Fernando who works at "Stone of a Beach" hostel in Copacabana. He's always looking for surf buddies, but I believe he's moving to Australia in August...he'd be able to show you the best surfing for sure. Let me know if you want me to 'intoduce' each other.

I did surf on sand in Huacachina, Peru though - that was awesome!! Massive sand dunes in the middle of the desert - AMAZING! I know you can sandboard in other places, but I am a bit of a 'dune snob' now, after being in Huacachina - you should check it out if you end up in that area (in fact, I'd go out of my way to get back there!!)

Unfortunately, I’m not going on my 2 month tour of south/cental america until next year.... would of been nice to meet one of the locals though,. I think ill give the sand dunes a jam on my way through south A.

No worries - I'll e-mail him and ask him the names of the good surf spots in that area, then let you know. They rent surf boards at that hostel, so it's a good place to meet other travellers who are into surfing too - I do think most of the boards belong to Fernando though, so I'm not sure what will happen when he leaves.

Cool that you're going to check out the sand dunes - it's amazing, you won't be disappointed! Here's some pics: http://www.travelpod.com/travel-blog-entri...53600/tpod.html

Also, as you seem to be up for the adventurous stuff, don't miss out the Death Road bike ride in La Paz, Bolivia!

Hey Kiwi Surfer,

My friend Fernando replied with a list for you!! Here you go:

40 minutes south of Rio (get the 'Surf Bus') and you have the beaches of Reserva; Recreio; Macumba & Prainha.

2 hours north of Rio is Saquarema, which he says has "really good surf there"

He also recommended Maresias beach in Sao Paulo - I'm guessing he means in the state of Sao Paulo, as the city is pretty inland!!

Hope that helps!!

Yep, you get about 430 travel blogs if you type costa rica surfing. I spent all day going through them and only found 1 good one from someone who actually went on a surf trip, as appose to a 1 or 2 day surf lesson in the white water.

Thanks kath for your tips on rio, a surf bus.. haha that sounds harty

Oh, I see what you're saying. To find trips specifically about surfing just click on the "trips" tab.

There are a few good ones (I thought)

No worries kiwi surfer, happy to help. Let me know if you need any more info there, as I can ask my friend.

I think 'bassius' there in the commentary below mine is a spammer, so be careful - I've seen the same message on a few entries tonight smile.gif
