Hello everyone,

First time posting, but I've read quite a few of the topics here, and find them quite useful - thanks!

My girlfriend and I are travelling to Italy, France, Belgium and the Netherlands this summer, and we're starting to book some train tickets now.

I was an absolute idiot, and booked the tickets from Paris to Brussels an hour too early, and we wouldn't have time to make the connection between St Lazare and Nord, since we're arriving about 10 minutes earlier from Bayeux. It's a Prems ticket. Is there any chance of SNCF being sympathetic and giving me my money back, especially if I booked the replacement ticket already?

Thanks!

Oh...you booked two tickets before asking for a refund on the first one?

I'd say definitely give them a call and ask if you can get a refund. There will probably be a fee, but do it as soon as possible, because sometimes you can't do it if you wait too close to the departure date.

Hi dewert!

I agree with Louise...the sooner you call, the better, but from what you said your trip is a few months away, is that right? I think you should be ok...there might be a fee, but a) all fees are negotiable, and cool.gif the fact that you're so far in advance gives you an advantage

Good luck!

It shouldnt be a problem to return them once you arrive in France. As long as they're not "non refundable" tickets which would\should be clearly labeld on the ticket itself.

In general its no need to buy tickets so far in advance even in the summer months. They've changed things around at SNCF a lot recently so you can exchange or even return tickets right up until the day and time of departure.

It all depends on what type of ticket was purchased. Ive not heard off such penalties unless you want to change tickets after the initially booked train has already departed or if you purchased a really cheap ticket on the net or if perhaps if you want to cancel the trip entirely and not change tickets. But again such penalties are written on the actual ticket of purchase.
