I hope to be in Greece by September
and was hoping for some advice as in

The best way to get their by Ferry from Italy?

Can i get to Egypt by Ferry with my bike, or do i need to go via Cyprus?

As my ultimate destination is Australia, would it be prudent to sell my Bike in Greece and indeed would that be possible? or can i go further east and still be able to have the opportunity to sell the bike?

I would be grateful for any advice as i am just starting to plan this long journey

I found this on Wikitravel: From Italy, several ferries depart for Greece daily. Ferries to Patras (Pátra), Igoumenítsa, and Corfu (Kérkyra) leave throughout the year from the Italian port cities of Venice, Trieste, Ancona, Bari and Brindisi.

Hi,
That does sound like a fantastic trip you are taking. We have friends here on the Greek island of Paros who took their Vespa scooters for a jaunt to Italy and back. They then loaned us a great book by the travel writer Peter Moore called Vroom with a View about his travels on an old Vespa.
Patras is the main ferry port into Greece from a couple different Italian ports. So it depends upon your specific route which is best.
I am not aware of any direct route from Greece to anywhere South of Turkey. There are ferries from Cyprus to Egypt and from Greece to Cyprus. Best consult a travel agent who specializes in that route because the availability will change each year and each season.

In my experience the further South you travel and the further East the more onerous the bureaucracy and therefore the more common to skirt it by subterfuge or bribery. Greece specifically has many law suits by the EU because their laws are counter to European integration--in other words it is unlikely you would be able to legally sell any vehicle that was not imported through customs and meets all Greece standards, etc., etc. . .
You would be able to find someone to take it off your hands, however. So I suggest you take it further East and South where bribery pays a larger role. Of course that involves trying to find out ahead of time what the rules are for bringing the vehicle into the country in the first place. It is not cheap nor easy to travel encumbered by a vehicle.
Enjoy the journey, not just the destination.

Cheers,

You're absolutely right. Have a good one, and don't hesitate to ask for any more advice.
