Many thank you's in taking time to view post. A reply would be marvelous :-)

My husband and I have 5days in Barcelona. How plausible is it to get the Pyrenees in this time, and would you recommend it. Or would our time be better spend enjoying the City? I am a lover of the great outdoors, and my husband has never had the pleasure to visit a mountains before now.

Should we make it to the mountains - recommendations for public transport or private car hire. And the conditions in March

Hi there

A tricky question. Five days in Barcelona is just enough to scratch the surface. There is so much to do, however if you're determined to reach the Pyrenees and why wouldn't you be, then it's easily achievable.

In March there will still be lots of snow, so if driving you would need to get local road conditions, but I imagine those roads into, say Andorra will be cleared.

By public transport, Vall de Nuria is perhaps your best option. You can get the train and link to the mountain tram to get up to 2000m - I'm pretty certain that with some commitment and an early start you can do a round trip from Barcelona in a day.
