According to the Tibet Tourism Bureau Tibet will be closed beginning in March, but they are not yet saying when it will be reopened. It could be a month, or more.

Head across the Sichuan plateaux through Litang and some other places I can't remember to Zhongdian. It's basically part of old Tibet and probably still open for tourists. I spent quite a bit of time in Yunnan province and it's gorgeous!
