Tickets have went on sale starting 2 weeks ago or so.
http://www.fifa.com/

I've been looking into buying tickets. The prices are crazy though. For anyone buying tickets, purchase them now while were in the first phase. Anyone else going?

What?? Those prices are stupid! It would be amazing to go, but I would never want to be ripped off like that.

Are you still thinking of getting some?

Guess I'm one of the lucky ones... Think the tickets are quite discounted for South Africans... I'm definitely going to be there... Can't wait. Think it's going to be helluva exciting no matter which match you get to watch...

$600? Where are you seeing this? I see prices in the thousands for best seats finals.
3 regular games to follow argentina for me would cost me +$1000
I think I'm better off watching the argentina games in the actual country. they get crazy there!

I don't think I would pay 10p to watch, to be honest... it will most likely be an anti-climax like always. If I was in SA then instead of going to the games, I would try and watch them on a big screen with a load of locals, and soak up the atmosphere without getting ripped off!

Even though I am priviledged to have acess to the discounted WC tickets, the availabilty of the discounted to the South African public is very limited. We have just found out that we didn't get the tickets for which we applied.

Although the price of the tickets seem excessive, I would suggest coming to the country to experince the vibe - even if it is just for the last games and hang around to see the country. I think it will be something you really enjoy. Its a great county with a great future.

Of course! That would be my own reason for going. The energy behind this games is amazing.

I heard their plan for crowd safety was to make everyone get there three hours before kick off... I'm slightly sceptical about how well that will be recieved tbh.

The LOC has launched a catchy, patriotic campaign called 'I was there'.It is meant to encourage South Africans to apply for tickets. I can officially say ' I was there' - I got tickets to a R16 and a QF !!!! I am so excited.

I went to a Confederation Cup match in June , Brazil vs. Italy - It was off the hook. Had the best time ever - ok in recent history !!!!

PS: The airlines have cottoned on to the fact that this is a money spinner and the prices for everything is bound to be a billion times higher. Domestic ticket which usually cost R1500 ($200) on the full frill airline in now R8000 ($1067). Crazy!!!!!!

So the World Cup has come - and gone. As a local,I can honestly say it was an amazing time...an exceptional high. What were your impressions of the tournament and by extension the country. It would be interesting to hear some honest thoughts about the whole affair.

Regards,
Kamy
