Well I've been to 16 but my map only says 14. I am guessing it is not including Vatican City. The other is Belgium which I technically only drove through.
USA, Canada, Bahamas, Mexico, Cayman Islands, Jamaica, England, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Czech Republic, Austria, Italy, Vatican City, Switzerland, France

QUOTE(aopaq @ Feb 20 2009, 06:59 PM) I think my blog lists 7 but the number of countries I have actually stepped foot in is significantly more.
However, I am not a big fan of these types of questions because for some "visiting" countries is more about a numbers game than really trying to know about the culture, people and language of a country.
If one considers the definition of "visit" as to go to see or stay at (a place) for a particular purpose (as business or sightseeing) then the regular number count does the trick. However, for me, a visit has to be more than just hitting the main tourist sites and passing through. I view visiting as a way to really get to know a country and my definition of preference means to reside with temporarily as a guest whereby you actually live in a place for an extended period of time and attempt to gain a rich understanding of a culture, people and language. Therefore, in this context my count is 3.
I know many will disagree with my interpretation but then they should come and "visit" me so we can discuss it!
I agree with you 100%. Last summer I made a stop over in India for two days to see Delhi and the Taj Mahal, but it is funny to say that I "saw" India when I only saw a fraction of the fraction of the country. Most people that do not live in the U.S. will visit California and New York and maybe Florida or Illinois. But even if you go to all of those places you still have NOT seen the U.S.!!! With that being said I have been to 36 countries according to my page.
