Hi..after reading your blogs I've decided to study spanish in Xela instead of Antigua, but is it difficult to get there? It looks like it's about a 4 hour bus ride, or if the schools pick you up they will only pick up in the morning and I can't get a flight that arrives before 1pm so I would have to stay the night in the city. I'm a female traveling by myself...do you think it would just be safer for me to study in Anitgua? Any tips would be appreciated! Also, I haven't picked my school yet, so any tips there are also appreciated.
Are you flying into Guatemala City? I studied 2 years ago in San Pedro de Atitlan. It won't be as long as a bus ride. I went to Casa rosario down there and there were awesome!! If you are flying into Guatemala City- the bus ride isn't difficult just long. Also, you will want to get directly into a cab and take that to the long distance bus- different parts of the city run them out different directions. It's just smarter and safer there. If you havent looked into them before the lonely planet guides are great. Give very specific directions getting from point a to point b
