I posted yesterday about taking a trip to El Salvador next week with my son (2/12-2/17). Well, I was reminded the hard way that one shouldn't wait 7 days before a trip before buying tickets - the cost went from $338 round trip to $725. The travel agent said tickets to Managua, Nicaragua were still relatively cheap - $410 round trip, so I switched over.

So, now I'm hoping for a helpful post on what fun stuff there is to do in Nicaragua - or should I just drive the 3-4 hours to El Salvador?

Thanks!

there's volcano boarding in Leon, 3000 year old footprints in managua, easy surfing all along the pacific coast, old rock petroglyphs on isla ometepe, gorgeous boat ride down the Rio San Juan if you're quick you'll see crocodiles resting on the banks and will be guarenteed to be howl'd away by the howler monkeys resting up high in the pristine rain forest on nicaraguas banks.. probably my favourite central american country.. followed by El Salvador of course..

Hi,

You know that you can also do a search for blogs from Nicaragua and see what other members went to see ..... what they liked and what they did not like!

Don't cry for me El Salvador! You will have plenty to do and see in Nicaragua. Just read what other Travelpodders have to say about it. Judging by what they say, you could have stayed a month!
