I was terribly saddened to read about the two people who were kidnapped and subsequently murdered while travelling in Bolivia. I have to add that I travelled in Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia two years ago and as a woman, sometimes strolling unaccompanied I only felt unsafe on one occasion in Peru. I had strolled too far across a side of a bridge I should not have crossed and towards a shanty town. I was grabbed and hauled by an unknown Peruvian man back to my side of town, shouting at me about how foolish I had been, which I had.

Can anyone offer me any pointers about living in Kathmandu? I am working there for 3 months at the end of this year.
