Mardi Gras is approaching fast!!

I'm sure there are some Travelpod members who will be celebrating Carnival and Mardi Gras (the last day of Carnival) with fervor!

When I think of Mardi Gras my mind fills with the most vivid of colors, elaborate, amazing costumes, lots and lots of laughter, and people dancing in the streets and having the time of their lives.

If I had the option I would definitely love to check out Carnival in Brazil. I'd also love to celebrate Mardi Gras in New Orleans.

Have you ever celebrated Carnival or Mardi Gras? If you have, where in the world did you celebrate? If not, would you like to celebrate it one day? And where would you do it?

I will once again be celebrating Mardi Gras on the Alabama Gulf Coast. Fat Tuesday is always a blast. There's a parade in Gulf Shores in the morning, and then another at Orange Beach in the afternoon. It's very family-friendly, so it's a great way to celebrate Mardi Gras with the kids.

Oh, that sounds fun! Are you from the coast then?

Mardi gras in new orleans is great! if you are a lady (you will want to either go braless or wear a shirt which easily pulls up ,or down)...you don't get good beads at mardi gras for smiling pretty... also be prepared for the stinch of urine and stale beer..and be prepared to get beer (if you are lucky) spilled on you.

there may be some shocking scenes as well... try to get there early and get a place on the balcony, bring beads..people will do anything for beads (see second sentence)

while in new orleans get a room close to bourbon street, pronouced (burbun) and try some lovely cajun food, the spicier the better, don't forget to have a hurricane and just ...hold your nose...

Um...I'm a lady and I don't think I would want to go braless on Mardi Gras...beads aren't that important to me.

Hmmm. Personally, aren't your goods too good to show off just for beads! It'd take alot more for me too. Unless they were like some magical beads that made free plane tickets appear or something. Then I would totally consider it! I never got the show-your-boobs-for-beads thing. I think I would have to be 19 and drunk to think it was cool. (no offence 19 year olds!)
