Beijing is always the first destination for travelers. I am glad to tell you that Beijing will be really a surprise to you. There are five main attractions in Beijing, including the Great wall, the Ming Tombs, the Forbidden City, the Summer Palace and the Temple of Heaven. The fist I’d like to recommend is certainly the Great Wall. It is world-famous and I believe travelers are all know about it. After the tour to the Great Wall, you will visit the Ming Tombs where 13 emperors of Ming Dynasty are buried. In there, you will be amazed at the magnificent imperial buildings. Locating to the Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City is famous for its imperial construction. It was the palace in Ming and Qing Dynasty and where altogether 24 emperors lived and reigned. The Summer Palace is a well-preserved and largest imperial garden. It is a rare masterpiece of garden arts for its ingenious design. The Temple of Heaven is a place for emperors to worship the God and pray for good harvest. It is will be a pity if you visit Beijing without having a look to the Hutong of Beijing which is symbol of traditional Beijing. The most famous Hutong is the Luoguoxiang and Maoer. I am also recommend that you should have a visit to Wangfujing Street where are scattered with the traditional stores of Beijing. And you can also go shopping in the Silk Street which is famous for a variety of tourist souvenirs. If you are an enthusiast of nightlife, the best place for you is the Sanlituan Bar Street and Houhai Bar street where are many bars in different styles. And the bar in 798 Art Zone is also a good choice.

What are you allergic to? To the water there, I guess. My hometown is rather wet, which is good for the skin. Beijing is dry, so moisturizer is strongly recommended. Guys don' care about it too much.though. Ah i see. thanks for the tips i don't think i'll moisturize though; won't be in Beijing long anyways.

Yeah Beijing seems like a nice place to visit. What was your allergy to? I'll still be a teen' when i visit there, 17. How old were you? I went there when I was 12. Now I am 23. I really enjoy the Great Wall and Forbidden City. Oh you were young when you went. I think i'd like those locations also, must do my best to visit them.

QUOTE(scottshangguan @ Jan 14 2009, 12:29 AM) If you go to The Forbidden City, please do some reasearch first.
I've been to Beijing 4 times and The Forbidden City 54 times. I love the place and it is what got me interested in China when I was a kid.
It is an amazing place, but most people go there without knowing anything in advance, and get bored quickly. If you understand a little bit about it and what the buildings were used for, it'll make it so much more meaningful for you.
I'd highly recommend you go into the area known as Emperor Qianlong's Garden. You have to buy a ticket to go into it, but it is a much warmer and more personal space. It is beautifully designed and since you have to buy a ticket, it means less tourists will be there.
Thank you for the tips, that makes sense Are there day tours around the Forbidden City? Would be good if there was guide to explain in detail the sections. It seems like such an interesting place, i will take your advice and do some prior research
