Bintan Vs Batam, Which one is worth spending a day exploring?

Newbie Group: Members Posts: 1 Joined: 22-May 06 Member No.: 784 Nominate me as a Local Expert	My girlfriend and I are thinking of going to either Bintan or Batam Indonesia tomorrow for my birthday... we like seedy stuff... third world like places to explore and, since we only have the day and I have been in Singapore for awhile and not been to either yet, I thought I'd like to check one of them out. We are looking for opinions as to which one we should spend a day at. Can anyone give us opinions/advice?

Looked seedy but not really explorable. If Lonely Planet is to be believed, Bintan is much better -------------------- My Nepal volunteering & SE Asia backpacking blog! (2/3rds finished!)
