Hello, I'm deciding whether to go to Kenya for my Safari or another african country with wildlife. Which are the best places for Africa safari in Kenya. We don't want to use a tour company but ourselves.

From my limited knowledge of Kenya, I think it's probably best to go with at least one guide on safari. They will know where the animals hang out and can keep you safer than you could be yourself.

But, nevertheless, check out some blogs on safaris in Kenya.

Top African Safari destinations in Kenya are the national parks. The best and most popular is Maasai Mara, Amboseli, Aberdare and Tsavo in that order.

I've been to Tsavo East and Tsavo West in Kenya, both beautiful places - but for me the Serengeti in Tanzania is easily the best place in East Africa that I have been on safari.

The western Kenya region, the area around lake Victoria and the dense Kakamega forest is also worth visiting. You will however require the services of a tour guide as a first time visitor.

If you wan't to really do it yourself you might consider South Africa. Kruger Park is very easy to do on your own, but it doesn't feel as "wild" as Kenya or Tanzania where you need a 4WD. Kruger has paved roads throughout, and campgrounds and lodges that cater to local families that drive in their own vehicles. If you're going to rent, try to get a van (locally called a combi) so you can sit a bit higher up, that extra elevation enables you to see lots more game.

To do it yourself in Kenya, you'd need to rent a 4WD. I'd recommend the Mara in the area around the Mara River. You can stop for meals at Kichwa Tembo, I'm not sure about Governors. You probably won't save that much money by doing it yourself though. You can book a personal safari in Nairobi which will save hassles and time.

Amboseli also shouldn't be missed because of the views of Kilimanjaro. It's fabulous.

Bon voyage.

Have you ever browsed on net and compare countries in Africa or asking some of your friends who have done safari in Africa?

The best place to visit in Africa is East Africa. Kenya being the first one. the reason why is because of the migration that takes place in Masai Mara in the month of August , September October and November. During that time you can have the opportunity to visit several places in Kenya: eg
Lake Nakuru, famous with flamingos, birds. monkeys and even other wild animals.

Lake Naivasha , Mount Kenya, Amboseli, Samburu, Tsavo East and West.If i start telling you all i might end up taking the whole day, but you can Google all thous places i have given you and see what they offer.

To add on that its always good when traveling to have a driver guide since he knows better where to find the animals when in a park and at the same time you will be safe and secure. its always good to have one from a tour company.

all the best
