Hi. Please look at http://www.travelpod.com/travel-blog-entri...90700/tpod.html

It is my travel pod entry that describes two of my friends who would be great guides for those who want to travel off the beaten track in Laos or Northern Thailand

See ya

I should add some more: Both guys are Laotians, currently living in Thailand. For the 15 years + they have been Buddhist monks. Recently they have been "posted" to remote Karen villages in Thailand's North. Really pretty places and very traditional lifestyles. Anyway, both are about to stop being monks. They are trying to figure out what they will do in the future. They could take people to some really great, off the beaten track places and also explain so much to you that you would otherwise not find out about.

Anyway please read the travel pod and have a think. If you really want to travel in Laos and Thailand and understand some of the culture and religion and you want to get away from the main tourist areas and visit the real people, including some very traditional minority villages - this may be a great opportunity for you.

See ya. Good luck.

Paul

Hi - thanks to the people that have contacted me about these guys.

I must say that I no longer have contact with them and so cannot help you use them as guides.

I think one has married his Shan girlfriend and has probably started up a little farm in the Laos countryside, and the other is working as a tour guide in Luang Prabang - but he is very busy and has lots of work.
