I am going on my honeymoon to Costa Rica in 10 days and am looking for advice on how to get around in country. I have been advised against renting a car from friends. We get in too late to take the airport transportation shuttle from the airport. We dont speak spanish and are nervous about the public buses since we dont know the area at all or how to find bus schedules.
We are going from San Jose to Arenal in the afternoon.
5 days later we need to get from Arenal to Papagayos (pacific side)
5 days later we need to go from Papagayos back to San Jose.

The hotel quoted us $150 USD each way for private transport which seems too high. Anyone know of a company that we could use for private transport? Or a fair price to pay a taxi for those distances? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
