We can take a plane from Catania to Naples, but thought a ferry along the coast might be prettier. We are staying in Siracusa and want to end up in Sorrento but could go anywhere close to there. Does anyone have a website that tells about ferries in Italy and could tell me how long it would take and how much it would be? Thank you.
HI
Let me make a suggestion about train travel. There is a train from Siracusa to Sorrento. One leaves at about left at 7:30 a.m. and usually gets you into Sorrento before dinner . You can check trenitalia website to get an idea. It takes about 8 hours as is about 65Euros one way . There is a train about 8Am and get you to Naples at 4PM. The you need to take a train to or ferry to Sorrento.
This train went directly onto the ferry at the Straits of Messina and we didn't change until we arrived in Naples. When I got out to check out things, we were half way across the Straits! People were on top, cars on next level and 2 trains in the bottom. How cool is that!
At Naples, we took the Circumvesuviana (spelling?) to Sorrento, and a cab to our hotel.
