Goodness...first to vote. Why Red Flowers. Sharp colour, contrast and great composition. The background mist (or steam) is the clincher for me.

2 looks lonely and slightly miserable to me!

I think 1 or 3.

#4 is interesting because of the mist hanging over the water, but somehting about it just looks very amateurish to me. The longer I look at it, the less I like it.

I apologize if my comments were harsh. I have edited them out.

You shouldn't edit your comments if that's what you think. Were they that bad?

#5 lacks contrast and I can't see why it's in there with the others, but that's just my opinion.

Sapa (#2) is incredible but I've gotta go with Wanaka (#3), just spectacular and a place I will always feel at home..

That was pretty much how it went for me too.

I agree with Scott about the contrast (or lack of) in 5 - so that wasn't in my choices.

I also liked the mist in 4, but not the rest of the photo.

It came down to 2 and 3 and I chose 2 cause I want to get up in that tower and sit looking out of the window with a nice hot mug of coffee.

I think I would prefer to live in a house that would be built right where the photographer was standing on # 2 .....what a scene to have off your front door every monrning...ahhhhhh

At first glance I like # 2, the mist is great, creating mystery and atmosphere, the house or temple on the cliff side, but then as I look more, I see too much sky, and a bit too much of the forest below it. This image needs to be cropped. The image could be a bit sharper, with a bit more saturation too.

Then we go to # 3. Great sky, loverly reflection - the traveller or photographer, to use an old saying, was at "the right place at the right time." Cropping is good, nothing that distracts the eye. Very pleasing, even soothing, like you want to be there camping right next to the water's edge.

So number 3 is my pick... this time! flowers.png

Cheers,
Frederic in Montréal

#3 all the way- it just somehow stands out as a view you'd love to actually be there.

One and two are amazing locations, but I can't vote for them. #1 does not do justice to a serene image of Antarctica I had in my mind. #2 has an amazing house in an amazing location, but for a photo contest I didn't like the hazy background. #3 is simply stunning, but easy to shoot. #4 is on the same level of beauty as #3, but I think it took a photographer's eye to capture it. I'm going with 4.

It has got to be number Three. The colours are beautiful and the dimensions are about right. It is a shot I would have been proud of.
