Absolutely the best island in the Caribbean for vacation and living is Dominican republic,as destination in Dominican republic i recommend Punta Cana,it has the nicest beach from the island.

The readers choice magazine has chosen the Dominican republic as the best Caribbean destination.

My vote goes to Dominica, with Bonaire in a close second. I also love Grenada and Barbados. Plus, someone mentioned earlier Water Island...we went there the last time we visited St. Thomas and loved it! Honeymoon Beach is not busy at all and just lovely!!

Hi there!

For me, my best choice in the Caribbean Sea is Aruba Island... I like the white sand beaches with the shades of the palm trees, the blue sky, the turquoise water and the coral bridges.

Well if you go by the film Cocktail - Jamaica. Probably not best way to pick a destination though.

Totally agree. This is the best island in Caribbean. But my friend told me Anguilla is also nice too. I hope I could spend whole season there. crazy.gif

I really didn't like Anguilla. You can't get around that island without a car, or hitchhiking everywhere. You also can't walk, because everything is far away from everything. It's bizarre.

I'd be biased to say Barbados but.. tongue.gif it's true! hehehe.

I personally LOVE Puerto Rico, St. Vincent, the Cayman Islands and Trinidad. smile.gif They're all so unique and fun in their own way. St. Lucia, Grenada and BVI and USVI are all nice too. Not too fond of Jamaica nor the Bahamas though.. very touristy sad.gif

I've never been to Jamaica, but I don't think the Bahamas is THAT touristy. It depends on what part of the island you are on, definitely.

I spent a year living in Nassau not far from the bridge into Paradise Island, so maybe I am slightly biased there.. tongue.gif But New Providence is definitely touristy, I know they're having a lot of local issues with foreign investors privatising the entire island with locals seeing almost no returns..

Really? Paradise Island I thought was terrible, but Nassau was pretty good.

What were you doing in Nassau?

My mom got a job relocation there so I went with her. (: It was about 10 years ago though so I wasn't very old.. Definitely not old enough for independent travel, anyway.

Paradise Island sucks unless you have access to the Atlantis Resort, but when you do it's really quite fun. Hotel with 6 water slides, private beaches and an aquarium, not bad! Just shows how much privatisation exists though..
