A significant change in the way British residents can extend their stay in Turkey has been quietly slipped in unnoticed by the authorities.

Every Briton entering Turkey could stay for a total of 90 days and enter the country more than once during that time.

Britons are now being issued with a stamp on their passport on entry to Turkey that states they can only stay in Turkey for 90 days in 180 days.

If they were to complete a full 90 day block, they would then have to leave the country for the remainder of the 180 days and only then could they re-enter is to apply for a residency permit. This will mainly effect those spending long periods of time in the country and not the annual visitors.

The new rules have been confirmed today by the British Embassy in Ankara. Read the news release here.
