me and a couple of friends were planning to visit Turkey in the next few weeks and we were thinking of renting a car to make our transportation from one place to another more comfortable. Do you think that this would be a good idea?Is the road network in good condition?Would it be safe to rent a car?Does anyone know any reliable and not too expensive car rental companies to suggest?Thank you all in advance for your valuable help!

We will be visiting Istanbul at first and then have a trip to the mediterranean shore

The road network will be quite good, I don't think you will have any kind of problem really!You could have a look at www.rentacareasy.com. I use them for the past couple of years and I am really satisfied by their services. They have very low prices especially for the places you are interested in and brand new cars!Hope this helps!

Hi, this answer is late for you but may help others.

I think, it is very hard to drive in Istanbul, even for locals. Many cars on the traffic and some people doenst drive safe enough.

I wouldn't recommend rent a car for a first time comer to drive in istanbul but out of istanbul such as in the south, it is okay. Less traffic and not-hurrying drivers.

Yes, in Istanbul you will need to keep your wits about you and expect the unexpected but elsewhere you shouldn't have a problem.

You could check out Argus Rentals who will search many rental companies and give a selection of prices.
