Powell's is the most amazing bookstore I've ever been to. We usually go there several times whenever we are in Portland. It is a city block, and requires a map to get around. They sell used and new books.

The Tattered Cover in Denver is a very nice bookstore in Denver (the Historic LoDo store is quite nice). Vroman's in Pasadena is also a great store.

To be honest, I've walked past it and looked into the doorway, but we were on our way to somewhere else, and I swore I would come back and visit, which regrettably I never did. I did see the film "Before Sunset" that was filmed there. If you haven't seen it yet, get it from the video store. Better still, get "Before Sunrise" first, as "Before Sunset" is the sequel. If you can get them both at once, it would be perfect. It's just hours of conversation between Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy in Vienna and Paris. You will either love them or hate them. I'd be interested in your opinion.
