HI-

I am planning a trip next summer to Vietnam, Loas, and Cambodia. I am trying to figure out the best way to get from the states to this region. Also I was planning on traveling around 7 weeks how long do you think I should stay in each country? Any points of interest I should know about?

Thanks so much-

Allison

Hi Allison,

What sort of things are you interested in? That's what it all depends on..

7 week holiday sounds a good rest for you

From US you can have alot of fly to Taipei, Singapore or Thailand, then we have alot of flight from thoses places to Hanoi or Saigon. American Airlight or United Airlight all have direct flight to Saigon from Sans Francisco, but very expensive

I suggest you start from Hanoi, then go down to Saigon, then boat to Phnom Penh, then up to Siem Reap, then to Laos

Depend on your interest, budget and advanturous volume, you can choose your ways of going in these places. I just want to list for you some of the must-do in Vietnam if you have enough time

- Hanoi: 2 days to wander around
- Sapa: 3 days; hiking to the local villages
- Halong: 3 days: there should be a night on boat
- Hue : 2 days
- Hoian : 3 days
- Nha Trang : 2 days
- Kontum - Pleiku - Daklak : 3 days ( for a close up to Vietnam tribal people) - od Dalat 2 days ( for easy look to the local life
- saigon - 4 days includes Caodai temple, Cuchi tunnel, and wandering around
- saigon to Phnom Penh thru Mekong river 4 days to Cai Be, Vinh Long, Can Tho, Chau Doc, Phnom Penh. If possible you should spend 2 days for a homestay at Cai Be

This is a silly suggestion because I don't know what you interest in. I just give it as a reference. Tell me more and I can consult you more

Welcome to Vietnam

Oh wow, thanks so much thats a great start! I really appreciate it! If I fly into Bankok would it be easier to travel Loas, Vietnam, and then to Cambodia or visa versa?

Hi ScottWoz,

Wow! This is great information; with this sequence of schedule you can make arrangement with your entire schedule.

This is a very good idea.

If you do Laos first, I recomment to go to Cambodia then, and Vietnam is the last, so you can make a round trip. Just make the trip at the other way

If you flight to BKK, you have more flight to Hanoi or Saigon( vietnam) than to Vientient ( Laos).

Where ever laos or Vietnam, you should make Visa first, only Cambodia has on-arrival visa

I think you have 7 weeks, it's better to travel around by roads, rails, boats and bikes then you can see more. Flight is only for people who doesn't have much time. If you go on land, you had better to do a round trip. End at Hanoi, and relax much at Halong Bay and sapa before going home.

That's not bad idea at all

It's better you should book hotels by your self, book tours ( ex: Ha Long Bay 2 days.. and then Mekong...........)

Recommend you book hotels with the best rate: www.hotels-in-vietnam.com
