Hi Guys!

My boyfriend, Liam, and I will be going on a trip of a lifetime starting next Saturday 16th January. We are travelling as follows:

Bangkok-Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Bali, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Hawaii, North America-LA.

By the time we hit America, which should be about mid August, we are slightly concerned we will be running very low on money and have just looked at the hostel prices in LA which aren't particularly cheap.

We would like to take a tour including LA, Route 66, Las Vegas, San Francisco- something along the lines but we plan to make the way ourselves.

Are there any tips on budgeting, where to stay, places not to miss etc.

Would be much appreciated!

Wow, what a fantastic trip you'll have!

I'm afraid I have no experience with hostels. However, you may want to look into campsites. There are some on the beach. Although if you are going through the desert to Las Vegas, I wouldn't recommend it for that time of year in that area unless you rent an RV.
