I am planning on traveling across Asia this summer with some of my travel being overland. I know that it is sometimes a problem to enter Japan without an onward ticket. My plan is to travel overland to Korea and then I have a flight there that will take me onto China. Would this qualify as an onward ticket since I have proof that I will need to catch another flight on a given date?
When I visited Japan I was never asked to show proof of an onward ticket. I would think that unless you give reason for the Japanese immigration to ask questions (e.g., scruffy appearance, bad attitude etc.) you should have no problems. As an extra precaution, it would not hurt to have a printout of a fairly detailed (even if not completely accurate) itinerary. That along with your ticket from Korea to China should be fine. Just curious.....how will you go "overland" from Japan to Korea?
