Any recommendations for driving / ferry excursions from Victoria, B.C. for about a maximum of 4 days? Will be there in June for a one-week conference and would like to plan something beyond the city. Will probably rent a car. Don't know if driving north the length of the island is a good idea nor how long it takes. Thanks.

Sweet island times! I am from there and that place holds my heart.
Seeing Carmanah Valley with a rented 4x4 can be a life-changing experience.
Or head to Long Beach for some surfing and stop at Cathedral Grove on the way. Another good idea would be to get out to Galiano, Saltspring or another Gulf Island.
June is a bit chilly to hit the beaches in Parksville but they are very nice. Lots of good hikes all over as well.
Skip Duncan and Nanaimo and really most of the cities. Campbell River is an exception, espcially if you like salmon fishing which is the best in the world there.
