I went to brunch last Friday (11th July) at the same restaurant where these two met. Later during the day there were media and paparazzi trying to find drunk brits to take photos and film of and to interview. They were waiting for a repeat performance of the week before. Too funny.

I am going there again this Friday.....and will report back here of any shenanigans!

The Daily Mail can reveal that the truth of this claim will be established later this week by an internal test on DNA taken from Michelle Palmer, 36.

A Dubai police source said: "In order for the charge of extra-marital sex to be brought, we need to know for sure whether there was sperm inside her and whose it is."

What? So if he was wearing a condom, then no charges? Or would there be less charges? Soooooo bizarre...

Wooo, we have our own secret inside source, raniroo! Amazing!

Thanks for the update, Gerre, I was too lazy to go find it myself...Glad to finally see the male culprit!

I know, but I didn't start it! It's their rules, apparently, they have to check for sperm to find out if they actually had sex...

Again, I think the checking for fluids and other physical evidence is the same procedure that is used elsewhere in the world when trying to prove cases that involve intercourse - ie. rape.

Nothing unusual as far as I can tell. I think a rape victim reporting a just occurred rape in a Western country would go through the same thing.

So lets not go too far with it.

Oh - I also notice that some of you will be taking your comments back regarding the male getting away with it????

See ya

No, I don't mean you, I mean them, the whole situation.

Am I misunderstanding this? Would the charge be different if they used a condom, vs not used a condom? Meaning, if there was no fluid, isn't the crime of having sex in public the same?

Yeah - I think misunderstanding.

They are trying to prove penetration from what I can gather. The fact that there was no condom is just, perhaps, making their job easier.

Ha ha - perhaps you are getting Muslims confused with Catholics.

Yes, definitely, I'm really glad he's getting equal charges. I'd be interested in seeing what the ruling is.

Apparently they are facing Dubai Court next week, I will scan the papers and see what comes up. If they used a condom and cannot find that penetration occured charges for the sex in public is likely to be dropped....although they may still harge for indecent behaviour etc.

Stay tuned!

I think it is boring.

If it didn't happen to Westerners in a Muslim country, and if the potential sentence was a little bit lighter - it wouldn't be news.

It shouldn't be news.

The only interesting thing is how you / we have all reacted to it.

Just put them in jail and lets all move on.

The new twist in the Ramsey case, was so sad! I mean its great that the family have all been cleared, but at what cost! Her mother died still under the impression that she was a suspect in the murder of her daughter!

No need. And although I think the story of the woman is boring - I found it interesting/disappointing that a whole bunch of people on a travel website found it a good opportunity to bash some Arabs, and talk about racial or cultural superiority - or so it came across.

But I will comment on this one no more.
