Travelers are usually always looking to getaway somewhere! For those who can only make the long haul some of the time, what's your favourite weekend getaway spot?

Is there somewhere close to your home you like to visit for a few days? A special camping spot? A nearby city that's fun to explore for the weekend?

I go on quite a few weekend getaways. If I'm staying in England a few of my favourite places to go are London, Dorset or Norfolk. London is only about an hour and a half drive from our house and there is always something to see or do. Norfolk is the nearest coast to us - about an hour and a half in the opposite direction.

For european city getaways, just 2 hours on a plane and we can be in Barcelona, which I love and also Palma - the capital of Mallorca, which is often overlooked - it's a great city.

I love going up north and living in Ontario, it's just the obvious thing to do. Out of the city, fresh air, beautiful, natural surroundings. It's just such a load off. Whether we go far up north or only a couple of hours away, it's just so relaxing being away from the concrete jungle (and I don;t even live in a big city smile.gif)

Once in awhile if I need a dose of city livin' we'll head into Toronto and catch a show or catch up with friends but it's nothing like hittin' the high road to the north. Well, it's just different.

From Charlotte, NC, great weekend trips are either to Asheville or Boone up in the mountains (especially during the fall when the leaves are changing) or to coastal South Carolina (Charleston, Myrtle Beach, or Hilton Head are fun choices depending on what type of weekend one's looking for).

In the UK, in the Summer, then I go to the New Forest or Cornwall.

The New Forest is great for hiking, cycling and wildlife spotting; whereas Cornwall has surf beaches, tons of History and lots of pretty females in Bikinis.

If I'm feeling flash, then it's going to be Rome. Love that city.
