I suppose swimming would be the cheapest...but I don't think I would recommend it. I have heard that if you check the airlines every day, sometimes they have sales on standby type fares.

Gonna be budget airlines. Tiger Airways offer a cheap flight from Darwin/Perth to Singapore and Jet-Star now have a cheap flight to Singapore via Cairns and Darwin.
From there you could hop over to Malaysia and get a flight with Air Asia to Kota Kinabalu for around $AU50!

lol well it might be a bit more than that. I got a good deal last time, just depends how early you book. Just looked for a flight leaving in a couple of days and it's about $AU100. Air Asia rule
