Original post is 3 years old. But here are some places to consider for other travelers. Below suggestions are in the Sukhumvit Road Nana area. These hotels are not far from restaurants, travel agencies for tours, malls, nightlife, street vendors, etc. Also not a long walk from the Nana Skytrain rail service. These hotels may not have fancy looking front windows or big lobbies but the rooms are okay.

Rail service in Bangkok is cheap and efficient. Available 0600 to midnight. As low as 45 baht from airport to the Phaya Thai Rail Station. (Pratunam area.) Switch to Skytrain for other locations.
