I dunno.....they do get sent by those shows to live 'as if they were jungle people'....mix that with one chef.....he sees a rat....there's no other meat around (unless he becomes a carnivore!)....he knows how to make it 'taste acceptable'.....hmmmmm

add to that, the statement below from the article:

"producers were normally required to have animal welfare officers on set when animals were used during filming, but in this case it did not take place"

I think I 'smell a rat' - pardon the pun! Publicity stunt? (I didn't see the actual episode btw, so looking at this independently too!)
