The rental car experience here is ruff. If you use debt instead of Credit Card to secure your car there will be a sizeable 1 month deposit, ours was $950!!!! The cheapest we found was Economy Rental car. Watch drop off fees ($50), and driving here is unlike anything you've seen. No road signs, evryone drives like they're being chased or there 4 cylindercar is only running 1 cylinder, going up a mountain with no guard rail and a 2000 ft drop. Take a shuttle from the airport and then rent a car if you must. Ur better off w/ busses and cabs for day-to-day getting around. It's cheap and Quepos is pretty small and easy to get around.
Stop by Gran Escape Rest/Bar next to Best Western Kumuk in Quepos for a nice respite. Ask for Eduardo at the bar!!
