G'day mandibee

Looks good but at today's currency exchange your 40 quid is worth roughly 62 dollars Australian so maybe u can do it but depending on your means of travel and dietary expectations and accommodation should not be too bad be aware some backpackers can be dumps and expensive even as a back packer but you should be fine here in oz food and fuel are the two main expenses every one complains about budget airlines are a really cheap way to get from point a to b quickly and saves money if you book online you can pay as little as your daily budget to get to say Sydney to Adelaide where a bus would take you 2 days, as you have allowed 30 days less the week in Sydney it does not give you much time to see the sites we have just spent 17 days alone in the west of the country and we saw very little of it mainly Perth and down south and then up to Broome, your friends in Sydney may help you plan your stay.

Also be aware Australia is still suffering form some localised flooding so some of the places you may wish to visit will be affected.

Have a really good time and as we say here in oz haveabloodygoodweekend party.gif and don't forget the aeroguard for mozzies.
Cheers Stewart

Hi guys thanks for the advice I have upped the budget for Aus to £50 a day pp and we will just have to make it work !

Being scotish alcohol is of most imporant in our budget lol so it sounds like we are gonna frequenting the local shop for drinks before we go out :-)

fortunately we have a friend to stay with in sydney so wont need accom there so thats good

We were gonna do the greyhound ticket from cairns to melbourne - what stops on this route would you suggest are "must sees"

G'day Amanda,

that is a good deal you have with the bus and they also give u a discount on some accommodation as well in places i would of recommended i have included a link for this if you have not already seen it also if you have not paid yet check out their Mates Rates and see if that applies to the mini trip if it does will save you more money for party time.

The place at Hervey Bay is a good stepping stone to see Fraser island so if u have the spare readies then check out this awesome sand island on a tour all the other places it is staying at are just as good would spend a day in Brisbane as it is a beautiful city , sufferers Paradise oops sorry surfer paradise is hm yeah ok but that is it it is all touristy and is good for a quick visit, Byron is good then u will be in Sydney with your friends they can advise you on the rest of the trip, and the Scots in you should find the bargains as well. and you did not say when u will be in oz Melbourne is a cold hole in the winter and can have 4 seasons in one day so be prepared for the weather change there.

Here is that link

Enjoy your trip
